Safety Update: Digital Pen & Paper Technology: Changing How HSE Field Data is Captured
One of the most time consuming tasks of the health and safety industry is the transferring of hand captured notes and field data to a computer. Converting paper forms and handwritten information into electronic data without changing the way people work is possible.
This means businesses can significantly increase their operational efficiency, compliance, and most importantly - profitability. Through the use of a digital pen and simple to use workflow software, the technology can truly change the health and safety industry.

How it works
The Pen: The digital pen is used just like an ordinary pen yet it encases a tiny camera that records pen strokes and stores content. Stored data can be transferred wired or wirelessly to a PC or other IT devices.
The Paper: Using a unique software process, forms are reproduced to match your existing forms. A licensed background pattern consisting of a series of faint dots is created to identify your pattern and associated with your forms only.
The Forms: Forms can be designed to look just like the ones you use today. They can accept handwriting, sketches, codes, control boxes as well as signature capture. The forms software allows users to add feedback, business rules and data paths.
Users simply fill out their paperwork as they usually would. The pen records its movement in relation to its position on the page. Position is identified by a faint dot background pattern and pen strokes are stored as a series of map coordinates. When a form has been completed, data is sent to a docking station attached by USB port to your PC or via a Bluetooth enabled device.
